Default TMPS change problem

So I just had my tires change last month and have a question. I looked and the OEM TMPS sells aournd $50 each.

I went to discount tire and they told me for every tire replacement they need to change the tmps also due to wear? So they took out the oem tmps and install the new tmps kit from them but not oem.

Should they took out the OEM, replace the tires, then put back on the OEM tmps? Should they gave me back the OEM TMPS?

After the checkout i don't remember they giving back the original tmps...

Im not sure that the OEM TMPS is neccessary. Help!

Not sure what discount meant by "wear" on the tpms sensors. That doesn't sound right.

I checked the manual for my 08 ES and the only thing mitsu recommends replacing is the grommets and washers that hold the sensor in place when tires are changed, but not the sensor itself. I know there have been persons on this forum who have re-installed the oem tpms sensors on aftermarket or winter tires with no problems.
