Default Too Dark at Night

I just bought a 2018 Outlander a few weeks ago. I drove at night for the first time about 4 days ago and noticed that my door switch panel (auto windows, door locks, mirror adjustment, etc.) backlighting was not lit. Has anyone had this problem? Is it even supposed to have backlighting? Nothing in the manul, that I can see, points me to interior switch panel lighting .

My 2010 doesn't have any backlighting except on the dash and gauge cluster.

Very odd. I'm so used to seeing it on other vehicles. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong.

I just read this over on caranddriver dot com: For 2019, the Outlander receives a host of changes that include revised front-end styling and standard 18-inch wheels. Every model also has more supportive and comfortable front seats, upgraded interior trim, newly illuminated window controls, rear-seat climate-control vents, and an electric parking brake.

Confirmed, no lighted controls for those on my 2016. That's part of the good and bad with this car. I love that it doesn't have the latest, greatest features because it doesn't break. That goes for everything including the 8 or 10 year old drive train, however old this has been around. Newer cars are unrecognizable in basic ergonomics and stuff breaks. I've experienced this on my other car and others. Everything makes sense on this car, even though it has many of the latest features, it still operates like a "normal" car. Of course the downside is that it nothing about it is cutting edge or latest gadgetry. It's a trade-off, but I really appreciate this car for what it is. I am still really wanting Appleplay and that's what I'll change if anything else on this.

Hi, I joined the forum to ask that very question ... it does seem a bit strange that the controls aren't illuminated. There a completely decorative led trim on the glass roof which I would happily have swapped for illuminated buttons!

Anyone know if the controls from 2019 are compatible for a 2018?
