Default Typical Problems?

I'm thinking about buying an '09 Outlander XLE and was wondering if there are any common problems I should know about. I searched the forums and didn't find anything obvious, but figured I'd ask anyway.

I bought a new '06 Cadillac SRX and didn't join a forum until after, then found out about some issues. Figured I'd take a look beforehand this time.

Thanks for any help!

none. They're bulletproof.

Manybrews is right, the 2nd generation Outlanders 2007, 2008, and now 2009 are solid vehicles.

For the 09, most of the earlier "issues" have been sorted out. And they get additional bells and whistles that 07 and 08 XLS owners didn't get. They are fancy add-ons but not really something that I'll miss or would want money spent for, but they're nice to have.

dcarr66, I'm very happy with my Outie and I haven't really importance problems, but check in next links, there is information about it:

Thanks for all of the replies. Most of these issues are pretty minor, and people seem happy with the car. I found out after buying a '99 Intrepid there was an oil sludging problem on the 2.7L engine - thankfully I had the 3.3L!

If I buy the car tomorrow I'll definitely be back on this forum!

agree... no major problems with the 2nd gen outlander. there are however some minor 'inconveniences features' which you can find mentioned throughout the forum.
for the price, we cannot get a better balanced vehicle.

I've had mine for about 1.5 years and so far it's been reliable... things that annoy me are:

- dealership locations and service
- noisy interior, rattles and not such a great isolation from road noise
- navigation software was a downgrade for me after coming from 06 Acura TSX navigation. Not as easy to use, UI is ugly and low screen resolution.
- scratchy interior
- expensive to get key replacement. I've paid $200 for a new key and now another $100 to program it!

I didn't try the heater, but the seats warmed up much faster than the ones in my Caddie. Too bad the buttons are hidden between the seats.

Those keys are just plain expensive. I had a regular key with a chip in my Intrepid and they cost $40 plus another $40 to program. I found out with that car that you could program a blank key yourself if you had two programmed ones. It was worth buying a third key just in case. It wouldn't make sense at $200 a pop, even if you could do the programming yourself.
