Default Upgrading RCA AUX jacks to USB

Okay so I have searched and can't find a definitive answer. My 2010 outlander XLS (canada) has RCA auxillary input which is okay, but I need an adapter for the cigarette lighter port to charge which means an extra cable mess. What I want is a USB port in the console (and there appears to be a spot for one as an option) that both powers my device and allows me to play music and podcasts.

There are lots of DIY solutions out there and while I appreciate that I would be pretty happy to pony up if there is a clean and easy plug and play.

Specifically I am looking at this: 2010 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander USB Cable KIT Genuine Factory MZ360331EX | eBay

I don't need the plastic box as I think there is a plastic plug in my console I can remove and put the USB port in. Will this allow me to do that?

If there is a better solution that just takes a bit of soldering that someone can recommend I may try that also, but want to ensure I have good sound and am not great at soldering though I have done it.

Thanks

If you're going to spend that much, why not just upgrade your headunit. I'm rocking apple carplay, it's awesome.

But you could just get a cheap $100 single din unit. If you don't have the rockford system, all your have to do is by the harness and metra adapter plastic.
