I used to have alike "mini-covers" like 15 years ago.
Those were held in place by wheel bolts.

I bought the 2014 Outlander GT just for driving it in the snow since my honda fit is not doing a good job. All i gotta say is that this has to be the best SUV in the snow, this thing is a beast, i felt like i have full control driving the outlander. I also have a 1991 Toyota Landcruiser, but that thing was heavy, gas eater and very slow, it does the job in the snow but not as great and fun as the outlander.

Throw some snow tires on there and you will be inspired. I felt it made a HUGE difference over the tires that come with the car

I agree! Huge difference. Even with cheap snow tires.

Aren't those wheel covers basically plastic hub caps? They usually just clip on..

If they cover entire rim - they're mostly clip-on. If they cover only hub part (barely inch or two outside the nuts circle) - they're often "bolt-on".
