What are electrical wires beneath seat bases for?

Default What are electrical wires beneath seat bases for?

hi folks

I'm a newbie to a 2010 Outlander (UK model) and to this forum.

I have manually controlled driver's and passenger's seats, but today I discovered two electrical wires (1 yellow, 1 black) coming from beneath the floor carpet into the bottom of each front seat base.

Any ideas what these might be for?

Mine is the Outlander Juro (special edition) but hasn't got electrically adjustable or heated seats.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Walter

My best guess is that the wires are for options that you do not have on your vehicle. Car manufacturers will use one harness with all harnesses haviong oujtlets for all the options. They will not make a complete harness for a car with heated seats and one for non-heated seats. They save money in the long run.

If you wanted to add heated seats or power seats, the wiring is there all ready.

Any wiring for the supplementary restraint system (e.g airbags and pre-tensioners) is always yellow in colour if that helps you.

under the seat if the the eletric seat, even if you dont have any that cable is there in case.

They had a recall on them too, can cause the car to actualy caught on fire because of corrosion because of water and salt from the winter.

I have the 2008 outie, and it was a recall.
