Default what's that button

Hi all, am new to mitsubishi, have an Outlander 09 model and there's a small button just above the 12v outlet ahead of the gear lever, to be honest didn't even see it in the gloom down there, but pushed it and it flashed red. Can anybody help with what it is/does? - thanks in a advance alan

Hi Alan, it sounds to me like it's the alarm button that you're refering to. Is yours a UK vehicle? I believe the UK ones have a Cobra alarm fitted at the time of import.

Thanks STick, it is a UK vehicle guess then, that pressing it is just to test it's working? it just flashes for a second or so after pressing?

Just a guess but most cars have a button to switch off the internal volumetric sensors while still allowing the deadlocks to function. Allows you to leave dogs etc in the car without triggering the alarm. Has to be pressed once everytime you operate the system IIRC.

Wunnunda is correct, If you press and hold the button twice (it'll do one really short blink and then a longer blink each time you press) you will disable the interior sensors until the next time you unlock. This is quite a handy tip because the manuals were incorrectly written on some models (including mine) and the interior sensors can be far too sensitive (also including mine!)
