Pinman have you done any mods to your car? 42mpg is heading into Prius territory which seems pretty unlikely for a heavy soft roader...

Hi Folks,

No, it is standard, got home last night and the display on the
dash (I know it's not very accurate) said 48.6mpg.

I get the car serviced at a friends garage (not a main dealer), who
uses Liqui Moly oil etc., and never had a problem.

My recent fill up to 16.133g on my 1992 Mitsubishi 3000gt vr4 gave me 14.44mpg and 233 miles. I'm trying to figure it out why it did what it did.

For my Outlander Sport (actually, in Europe, called ASX) everyday usage is about 30-32 mpg. And the best i had seen was about 40-42 mpg...

I just bought a new Outlander, and I am only getting 350KM per tank on city, and around 400KM on Hwy.

your numbers seems right comparing to what I am getting. there is no day I regret most about buying this car

the 4cylinders has an underpowered engine, very noisy, and the car can barely move after a stop sign.

I used to get about 400 kms on full tank before I get the refill signal, but now I only get 350 kms on a full tank. I'm scratching my head to figure out why such a huge drop in fuel mileage. It's not like it was good to begin with! I recently changed my tires but the new tires are low rolling resistance tires, and supposed to improve fuel mileage. If I knew the mileage was this bad, I wouldn't have bought the outlander in the first place. And yes, the 2.4 engine is really under powered. I drive 2009 Outlander ES AWD.

2008 Outie XLS I just hit 449km before the refill lights started blinking. This was all city driving. Got to say I am impressed.

besides the bad fuel economy the cars are great... i have owned every single model except the spyder thus meaning i have had base, sl and vr4.. i currently own a 1991 3000 gt vr4 with 59,000 miles on it and also a 1996 3000 gt base with 182,000 on the clock... one thing about these cars is that they dont seem to rust very much.. atleast none of mine ever had much at all... i can tell you alot about 3000 gt so if yu or your son has any questions, im the guy to ask... i can tell you that 91-93 or aka 1st gens were the coolest looking ones but have a huge downfall and that is that ecu's go out alot on them....very common problem...its due to leaking capacitors...these cars are getting more and more rare and hard to find by the day...ebay or craigs list will be your bst chance finding one..... another thing is price.... for being really old, they still are quite costly to buy..anyway just my .02 cents....o one more thing... id like to invite you over to the other forum where i call home.. i am super moderator over there as well as my forum buddies... i invite you to register and communicate with me over at Mitsubishi-Forums.com.... its way more laid back..just stop on over and register there and i can help you and your son with the 3000 gt...can give you all kinds of info and tips etc...
