No change on the rims. I run the alloy all year too. If you are switching out to steel rim then you may as well just buy separate tires for them imo. I live on the west coast so rain is my main enemy (very little salt on the roads here) but anytime I go up in elevation there is snow.

No big issue going smaller wheels, as long as the overall tire height is close to stock you'll be fine. Even a small difference in larger overall height is OK.


I ran 17's on my Sonata SE turbo with a 215 width VS the stock 225.
I also ran more offset to put the wheel/tire combo flush with the fender for a better track width. (more stability) That car was a champ running full on snow tires, and the smaller wheel meant more tire to absorb the crappy bumps from packed snow or ice.
The 17's were as small as I could go on the SE due to suspension components, otherwise I would have gone 16's.
My summer combo is a set of 19's with 245 wide sport tires. since this is an all wheel drive vehicle, I'm going to be using the stock tires for fall / winter till they are gone, then I'll go with aftermarket wheels and narrower snow tires.

Use a all terrain tire or truck tire....I'm running 225/70 16 cooper at3( w 8mm spacer just in case)looks bad *** too
I'm in Halifax too I know a east coast winter...wanted a taller more agressive tire for Nova Scotia winters

215/70 16s is factory which is bs Imo lol gonna run 16s go bigger no rub it's an inch taller tire ish and only half inch wider but major difference...keep in mind tho 60mph on the dash is actually 64 with this tire size

 

16's is factory ??? Is that for "Canadian models" ? Mine (and most) came with 18's.
Very happy with the 18's. Wouldn't want to mess with the speedo / odometer by playing with different tire sizes, etc.

 

The speedometer doesn't change much. You can do a tire calculator and they'll show you how much your speed decreases or increases with alternative tire sizes. It's could all be within 1-2%
