XLS features USA vs Canada
i like to buy (as canadian) the us model because they have the sand interior. I can not understand why it is not available in canada!!!
Also the price in the us is lower. But i have to take in mind that their is a 6,1% import duty.
And I think you pay the tps and provincial tax on the value of a canadian outlook

The dollar is pretty weak especially in the last few months, would that make it more attractive to buy a US Spec? 1 USD = 1.06 CAD, or 1 CAD = .94 USD. 5 years ago, a CAD was worth 63 cents
As far as the warranty is concerned, it does not seem to be valid in Canada if you import from the US. I am in the same situation, US model is about 5000 cheaper including all fees, but warranty will not be honoured. At least according to themitsubishi US website warranty information.
Cross border warranty work on Japanese vehicels has always been an issue - if you are lucky and you live close to the border, you may be able to get warranty work in the US - I have seem this work with Jap M/C's but autos may be different - defintiely YMMV. You most likely will need to get the dealar and Mits USA to agree.
Yeah it sucks buying Canadian vehicels when the dollar is almost at par but IMO it is philiosophical:
1. If it was ten years ago witha 65 cent dollar, the situation is almost revered.
2. Quit comparing the Canadian price to US price and go back to the REAL relevant comparisons - agaisnt the competition - think about how Canadian BMW X5 buyers feel compared to their US compatriats - they are getting screwed even harder so quit complaining, buy the damn car and drive the hell out of it! You'll defintiely feel better!

How easy is it to import cars into or from Canada? In the UK we can buy a car anywhere in Europe we get at least 12 months warranty but we have a problem to do this. With Europe having LHD cars most dealers must by law have to provide RHD cars when new. Cars companies don't like us saving money so when request a RHD carin a european dealer they come up with extra long delivery dates i.e. up to 12 months. I used to get round this by buying 3 month old cars from the Channel Islands they are RHD UK spec.
I once went with a friend to collect is brand new Lotus Elise from Belgium he saved over £4000 yet I only lived 10 min from where is car was built Hethel near Norwich UKThe UK has always been the dearest country in the world to buy a car my outlander would cost $42000 in the USA, so they give us a few extras. I am glad that I lease my cars instead of putting up cash
The reason why we get the diesel engine is because UK has the highest duty in the world on fuel I pay $ 2 per litre you only pay that per gallon and USgallons are larger the UK gallons
