97 Montero Sport P0400
Hi, I tried to post this on DIY, but don't have privileges to post there for some reason. Maybe someone could tell me how to fix that.
My 1997 Montero Sport LS 3.0L engine has a P0400 code. I replaced the EGR valve and gasket and the EGR solenoid. Under the EGR valve there are two pipes. The one at right (looking forward) had carbon buildup, so I put a coat hanger in and tried to get some of it out. I can't find instructions on how to remove the pipe assembly. It looks to be in the very back of the engine at the firewall, and I don't know whether it is necessary to take out the engine to get to it. I have read elsewhere that a P0400 could even be the throttle body. I have viewed youtube videos on removing and cleaning the EGR pipe on a Montero Sport, but those don't cover my particular engine. I reset the code and it came back. I have now replaced the MAP sensor and reset the code again, but am not sure that will fix the problem.
If anyone could kindly help me figure out how to get rid of that code and get the EGR flow working properly, I would greatly appreciate it.
