I often argue with friends about whether it’s even worth keeping 1.6 on my computer when there are modern shooters available. And you know, the more I play the new games, the more I appreciate the original. Its main advantage is its absolute fairness. There are no skins that give you an advantage, no unnecessary visual clutter or special effects that make your eyes water after half an hour. In 1.6, it’s all about your skill, reaction time, and knowledge of timing. The shooting physics are an art form in themselves: you can literally feel every trigger pull of the Kalashnikov in your skin.

 

The game runs on any old “calculator” with half a gig of RAM, the FPS doesn’t drop at the most critical moment, and the character movement mechanics still feel more responsive to me than in clunky modern engines. For me, 1.6 is like a pair of good old sneakers: not very fashionable, but they fit perfectly and never let you down during a race.

 

I totally agree; I’ve tried a lot of modern games like CS 2, Valorant, PUBG, and so on. By the way, have you noticed that the shooting gets worse with every update? I log into the game to have fun and relax, not to get stressed out—I get enough of that at work. So I downloaded the Counter Strike 1.6 original from CSget again. I had it before, but I reinstalled my operating system and hadn’t gotten around to reinstalling all the games I used to have yet. By the way, it’s pretty comfortable to play on my laptop too. Even though it’s not the latest model, the game wasn’t released last year either, so they’re a perfect match.
