Gas Mileage 2016 Outlander
Based on miles driven, as shown on our Garmin GPS, and fuel purchased, (while ignoring the on-board computer) on our trip south I calculated 7.3 litres per 100 kilometers. Coming north I calculated 6.9 litres per 100 kilometers. We drive the interstates at 5 to 10 miles per hour over the limit, always in ECO mode. Now you have to appreciate that the speedometer isn't accurate, and this means, I'm sure, that the odometer also isn't correct, and that will add approximately 5% to the figures. Even with the allowance for error, I think these fuel economy figures are exceptional for a vehicle like this. We also have a 2004 Prius with 335,000 kilometers on it, and it still gets 4.5 to 5.5 litres per 100K depending on the load, time of year, and speeds driven. In previous years we drove the Prius to Florida, fully loaded, with 2 bikes on the back, not sparing the gas pedal, and we averaged 5.8 L/100k. It was a stretch for us, buying a non-hybrid and leaving the Prius behind, but, for the sake of a few dollars spent on fuel, the Outlander is so much more comfortable, quiet, and roomy. Now that we are home in Ontario, the Prius is our main run-about, while we save Mitsy for longer trips.
