Mitsubishi Fuso speedo

Mitsubishi Fuso speedo
Can anyone help? I drive a Fuso bus; its speedo has been playing up for a year or more and steadily getting worse. It intermittently drops to zero and stays there for anywhere from a few seconds to an hour or more. This can occur in dry weather, wet weather, winds and calm days. We've spent over $2000 on automotive electricians who can't find the problem. They did install a new dash unit but that made no difference.
The only clue I can provide is that often when the speedo is reading zero an orange dash light often comes on. It's in Japanese and I attach a picture of it. The English translation for this that I obtained is "finger control". This is by a non-mechanic so it is a literal translation.
I would appreciate advice that I can forward to our automitive electrician.
Thanks in advance.
