My first NEW car - 2006 Eclipse - Oh, WOW!
Well, not sure what I can say about performance other than quoting the standard statistics.
I'm not into racing (yet), so it's hard to judge. And considering that the last car I drove was a Toyota RAV4, you could say that the Eclipse is like a friggin' rocket in comparison when it comes to power and speed.
I will say this, she handles beautiful on curvy roads.

cant beat the look of the 1st gen. eclipse's, its more agressive stance...like uhhh you know..real car look...lolz. but this new gen. is o.k. i, mean, look around you...new cars w/ the new looks....its more radical. and i, guess its pretty cool though.
It's hard to judge between the early years and the new one. When I go out to drive somewhere I still think the '06 is just a sexy car, but considering they way the Eclipse looked back in 1992, it was pretty sweet for back then. Then again, back in the 90's, the 3000GT was around and generaly drew the attention between the two cars.
The '06 draws some of its lines from similar vehicles (i.e. 350z, G, etc), but at the same time, there's nothing like it on the road. And I still have only seen two others off the lot. One of them I've seen about 4 times, because the gal that owns it commutes the opposite direction I do.
I've been an American automobiles person for a long time, but have been quite betrayed by the cars I loved for so long. I just about ran for the bathroom to hurl when I first saw the new so-called "Charger" that Dodge is selling. It's not a Charger. It's a disgrace to the name and everything the name "Charger" ever stood for.
Ford, while I'm deadset against them, has my respect because they did an unbelievable job on the Mustang.
Chevy/GM... A Vette is a Vette, including the Price.
The rest is all ugly as heck.
But the foreign cars are starting to really rock with designs. They had snow in hell about 4 weeks ago (read: I actually saw a BMW I thought looked good)
Toyota went a bit to far with the angles of the Celica. While it looks good, and the 2000 I had was a blast to drive, it just doesn't fit in these days
The Scion TC is a kick-*** car. If someone wants quick, asthetic, and priced well, it's the car you want.
But, among what seem to be different classes of cars, the '06 Eclipse seems to fit right in with the 350Z, and the Infinity G when it comes to looks.
Smooth lines seems to be the name of the game these days. Mitsubishi pulled it off quite well with the Eclipse. Just as they did in the early 90's when the style was smooth lines with fins and coves and such.
