Used Mitsubishi Outlander - can't open rear hatch

Used Mitsubishi Outlander - can't open rear hatch
I just joined.
I bought a USED Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ES a couple of days ago. I'm pretty happy with it so far but i can't open the rear hatch door. I use the fob and then push the button under the hatch door and it makes an electronic sound, but nothing happens.
I don't see any button for this at all on or near the dash. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
