Default turbo losing power...

I just put a new rebuilt engine in my 96 gsx, everything runs fine, but when I hit about 4300rpms my car just loses power. Does anyone know what can be causing this, maybe something needs to be adjusted correctly? And by the way I am goin realy easy on the new engine, I havent gone above 3500rpms besides when I tried to see if the turbo would give out again. (and it did) Also how long does it take to break in a motor completely?

Newer motors have greatly reduced break-in periods. 500 miles is normal. However, as with any engine, pushing it caneventually cause problems. If your turbo is loosing boost and the engine looses power, you may have a loose connection in your turbo piping. Check everything up to the intake plenum. Also, remember that boost only increses while you are accelerating. Once your rpms level out, your boost will drop. If your boost is dropping while rpms are increasing, that is a problem.
