Being young and getting tickets
My 16 year old daughter got to drive the '97 GT-S today and got a ticket in it going only 11 over. The cop told her others were going faster but she was targeted because of her age and what she drove. He said she could probably go to court and get it thrown out, which is strange in itself, but on what grounds can you get out of a ticket that you are clearly going too fast? Being picked out even if others are going faster around you is not grounds to get out of a ticket, I wouldn't think. I don't think I'ver ever been stopped for anything less than probably 17 over,or more, 11 over is borderline worth stopping someone for me. She is suppose to go the speed limit and she has been warned that driving the family van vs. the shiny Eclipse, you will get a ticket much sooner in the Eclipse when going the same speed. This is a bunch of crap.
Just got clarification from her, he said he was not profiling but that she could probably get out of the ticket because it is her first one. She said other people were pulling away from her but the Eclipse looked much better than the other cars, of course it does. You pay the fine and the ticket is dropped from her record in 6 months if she is not ticketed again. And she was stopped with the 40mph sign just ahead a short distance in front of the car. Lamo.
No that is not cool. Even worse that he admits it. THAT IS profiling in my mind. To me thats a form of descrimination and it pisses me off. I would be furious. Take that to court man.
11 mph over to me is grounds to get pulled over. And really to me it depends also on the speed limit itself. Like say the limit is 35 and shes going 46. Thats enough to get pulled over but if your going 76 in a 65 on a highway, they might not bother you. But id say anything over7-8 mph and you have a chance they could pull you over. So i dont see this as being abnormal or unfair. You should be able to get it off, but i dont think its such a *** hole move on their part. Because obviously being young you will get pulled over more.

11 mph in my opinion is pletty fast enough to get pulled over but the fact that others were goin faster and he knew it is what would **** me off. no matter what the car looks like and whos drivin, she was being more responsible the the other drivers, and the law is the law, nomatter how old you are, he should have ticketed the other person i believe.
