This is what i read... there is like a restrictor that limits the amount of fuel going into the engine at a "cruising rpm" after you pass this it opens up fully. Basically making the time it takes to get to redline... longer lol

. I knew is was something with the cames and valve timing but in essence I suppose if you are oppening intake valves longer you are bringing in more air and at that point a little more fuel must be needed to keep the AFR the same unless they run a diff AFR at 4500+ RPMs
