poor little 4cyl... how do you compete with that ****?? yikes!
Sorry, I guess we did drift quite aways off topic. I think the SRT is a great bang for the buck machine. It is quite fast, but IMO and my opinion only, at the end of the day it is still a neon.

You know the old proverd Burnt, no replacement for displacement. He also only gets about 3 gallons to the mile.

No quite but,
396 punched out to a 406 with all the internal trimmings, 11:1 CR, a huge 850cfm Holley carb, 3 speed auto th400, 5.26 gear does not add up to very good mpg (2 to 6 is what he guessed at the time)

track only though right? probably brings it down on a trailer?

I wish I had that much money! have a big *** truck to pull my trailer that contained my "weekend car" and then another car at home for everyday... thats the life right there

Surprisingly it was street legal. Working lights (all of them), cheater slicks, legal length exhaust (in Ks it only has to be to the rear differential) He spent about 15k on the motor and 5k on the chassis. It was tubbed, ford 9" rearend, full roll cage, race harnesses, fuel cell etc etc. It was NHRA legal for sub 9 runs. He did drive it on the streets on occasion, but it needed 91+ octane so he had to carry plenty of octane boost to supplement pump gas. He did trailer it to the track because KCIR is about an hour from the hometown.

His current project is a 67 chevelle with a factory 396 and roots type 14-71 blower + about everything you can think of. He never has given me a total price, but I would bet it in 40K for everything. It dyno'd at 786hp and 812torque on 89 octane. He isn't tubbing this one though because it was an original BB #'s matching car. He doesn't want to screw that up by chopping on the chassis, know what I mean.

The 03-04 SVT is a 12 sec car.

The SRT-4 is a nice car for the money, but don't be intimadated by anyone. If you lose then you know you need to go bigger somewhere. It's all up to you.
