Turbo Cool Down Time
Does anyone allow their turbo to cool down before shutting of the engine? The owner's manual mentions a cool down period before shutting the engine off. I change the oil and other fluids regularly. Any one have long-term knowledge on the taking good care of the 2.0L turbo engines?

Definitely give the turbo the cooldown time. Not necessarily for the turbo itself directly but indirectly. What happens is the oil vaporizes and dries on the oil supply line to the turbo. Eventually you have a buildup in that small line and not enough oil to the bearings in the turbo. This eventually fries the bearings and your turbo shortly thereafter.
Of course I'm alive. I work A LOT anymore. I've been keeping to mostly checking on the reported posts and deleting the spam more than viewing EVERY single post. I'm working as the regional manager and lead chauffeur for a limo and bus company in my area. Keeps me rather busy.
BTW a turbo timer DOES NOT get installed on the thermostat. It gets patched into the ECU wiring. The turbo timer reads engine speed, O2 info, coolant temp from, and run time to calculate what the oil temp should be at and how long it should run to allow proper cooldown time.
