Default ipod issues

Daughter purchased a 2012 Lancer Activ with bluetooth/ipod connectivity, so she thought.
Decided to get her an ipod touch with all the bells and whistles for Christmas to go with it. Problem is no one can find where to plug it in, (or even if you can). ipod has bluetooth, so we assume it should play through the speakers.
Any input whatsoever appreciated. Cannot find anything on official website to assist. Want to know whether to return the ipod and get her something else if it won't work in the car. She is not interested in one otherwise.
Realize this may be a no brainer for some of you to answer.....so don't laugh too hard.
P.S: She loves that car!

You can try the radio frequency to tune up to your iPod i suppose. Otherwise you will need an audio player that supports Bluetooth
