OK this is what happened, my friend was driving about 35 mph and hit a manhole cover it was just a little bump and poof the cars engine died. The dash lights remained on but engine just stopped. He has replaced the fuel pump and checked all of the relays. Can someone give me some insight as to what it might be?

 

Fuel cut off was possibly triggered by the inertia and the 'switch' would have to be reset . Usually these are under a panel in the interior. Owners Manuel often will have a note about an emergency cut-off or no fuel... Otherwise, several things potentially could have gone wrong (which would need more information and /or a mechanic...)
