Default using riser/non foulers to increase fuel economy

Hey guys & gals, i have a 8g galant & i have a question. Ive read in a few places that running your o2 sensors on risers will lean out your air fuel ratio & boost fuel economy. Is there any truth to this or is it like every other b.s economy mod? I have to change my sensors & cats so i figured if this can give me a boost, id throw them on.

Is the theory that the risers cause a change in the 02 reading which causes the ecu to lean out the mix? I am not familiar with this but hopefully someone who knows more can chime in.
