215.93 MPH EVO - Standing Mile
I had to come over here and talk about this...typically I hang out on the Corvette Forum in the ZR-1 Section as guinnessdood...
An EVO running 38-40 PSI boost came to the SORC event in Nebraska last wekeend and cleaned house. He posted the highest speeds of the day in the standing mile. He ran a 202 MPH(I think) on his first run...and backed it up with a 215.93 MPH run. This is a new SORC record. What is really cool is that the next fastest car was a TT Viper (1200+ RWHP)at 215.2 MPH. HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! news will be posted soon at http://www.sorcrace.com/ Anyway...whoever it was...made those that were laughing at his parachute (didn't need it, there was a 2 mile shutdown area)look pretty foolish, their jaws were dropping...and when he made his first run eveyone was going WHAT THE ?????? Then...the TT Viper made his 2nd pass and ran the 215.2.....they all figured it was over. Then the EVO bested him with that blistering 215.93. This was done at2850 ft elevation. The EVO puts the TT Viper on the friggin trailer! DAYUM!!!!

wow... that is some fast cars. the Evo must have TONS of $$$$ is just drivetrain work to make the gearing capible of that. lets also ad the aero factor that the Viper is a little more fit to go high speeds since the Evo is more of a toater over with wheels on it (not to aerodynamic for 200MPHLOL)

Well...what the hell? It is one of the most impressive automotive feats in quite some time. I still can barely believe it. This is not an "academic" feat by any means. My car will do 180MPH but that's a far cry from 215!...and my car is MUCh more aerodynamic than an Evo. Not too concerned that an EVO will break the ZR-1 24 hour speed records that it stillholds today. Roughly speaking...175 MPH for 24 hours. That kind of performance can add a Perma-GRIN!
Nontheless...I am in awe of the guy in the EVO...."We're not worthy, we're not worthy!"
I have found out that the guy is Mike Reichen...in a 1994 EVO II. Congrats Mike!
