Suspension Is your ride slammed to the ground? Did you lift it so high you need a ladder to get in?

Does is matter what brand of springs you use?

Default Does is matter what brand of springs you use?

I have a '02 Lancer ES and am looking to get some springs for it. I dont want to spend too much money on it since this is a secondary vehicle for me. I'am currently looking at 2 different springs, first one is Tein springs and the other is a no name brand springs that are about $100 less the the Teins. I was wondering if it really matters on the brand or if springs in general are all the same. I dont want to risk ruining my suspension. What if any problems can I have if I go with the cheaper of the two?

I would just go with the Tien. The problems you would have it the other springs having the wrong compression and ruining the shocks. Also of course they could bind if they are designed wrong, as well as totally break.

OKay, great thanks for the input. I was also wondering if I do lower my car, will the springs be ok with my stock shocks or am I going to need new ones or a camber kit?

You'll want new struts.

depending on how much you drop it you may need a camber kit. The general rule is below 1.5" drop youll need it. And struts arent necesarily needed but eventually your stock ones will blow from the extra pressure on them

Which makes me question why anyone would have spring intstalled on stock struts only to have to unload them again , and have a second alignment done. $$
