Probably either a bad tie rod, joint, or sway bar assembly. Try shaking the car and see if you can hear it. Might even be a bad strut.

how are youre tires? i had the same problem, and when i changed my rear tires every thing went away! if they are bald that might be the problem , also check youre upper controll arm bushing it could be bad and the knuckle could be vibrating on the controll arm! just some things that i went through to stop the banging in my rear susp!

good luck!

my tires are goodyear low profile and are new,its only there when its a decent bump.sound like someting is jumping in he back by the spare tire but i took everything out of the back and tried it again, still there.the noise sounds like when a shock is loose or the bushing is bad.i read that they(mitsubishi) had complaints about that type of noise in that year but, i dont know what they found out
