I drove xi2's for years on my Mazda 3... They were freekin awesome. I heard from a bunch of guys at work about how much they love the Blizzak's though apparently they are pretty soft and they were saying if you aren't careful (drive them in the warmer months) you will wear them out easily.

I haven't tried them myself yet.. I got a pair of 50% used Hankook IceBear's on rims on kijiji for like the cost of just the rims so I have been driving that for the last year and a bit (I don't drive a ton). I will say I noticed a HUGE difference in the cheapy B.S. brand tires vs my Xi2s. My 2wd car was steadier on the Xi2's than my AWD is on these, however these are by far better than all seasons in the winter and are for sure safe.

I think once I wear these down I will try and grab Blizzak's for them, I've just heard so much good stuff about them I want to try them for myself.

I find that the Michelins are a great quality tire and are priced as such. The only thing I didnt like was the tread depth looked a little thin..and the design is less agressive. I suppose that is due to their ability to grip well on ice. The Bridgestones are a better tire for my needs...I drive up north and in some pretty deep snow...had them on one of my Lancers and they did well. There are so many other tires to choose from these days...General Altimax Arctic are a good bargain and I had them on my wifes Van.

If you are in Canada the "New" Goodyear Nordic Winters are excellent for the price.
IMHO as long as you have a decent set of Winter Tires..you are much better off than any type of all season tires...slow down...drive according to conditions..and be safe.
