Default Unable to get OEM ipod wiring working

I have a 2007 Outlander XLS New Zealand new its a great car except for the ICE. I desperately wanted to fit an iPod connection. After reading through the forums I found that my car does not have the wiring in the Centre console. It only has the red and white inverter wiring.
I pulled the radio and bought the Mitsubishi MZ360136EX kit. Fitting was easy I put the three wires into the 18 pin plug as per the instructions. However it will not work. The head unit selects AUX without issue but I am getting nothing out of the iPod. I tried my I pad as well and that the same..... Have I done something stupid?

I have tried my Galaxy phone as well in case it was an issue with the iPod

Attached is a photo of my wiring and the head unit model. from pin outs I have found the only three others wires that are in my 18 pin plug, are for the face panel.

Everything I found suggests this wiring is right. I checked the dealers to see if they had any ideas.....just suggested trying the fuses! Wasted several hours today and getting nowhere fast

Sorry about the repeat I initially tagged this to another thread which I thought was probably not the best thing to do!

it did not work for me at first but I did not push connector hard enough. Push it all the way until it snaps in place. Make sure cables are pushed in all the way too.

Hi I gave up in the end and bought a new radio face plate, that takes a double DIN radio, bought a radio that does Bluetooth etc and could be colour coded to the rest of the dash, much better than the standard equipment and an easy job to do

I have a quick question for those who had the Mitsubishi MZ360136EX MP3 cable connected to the stereo. How is the sound quality? Do you have any static or buzzing sound when the phone is connected to the audio cable and charging at the same time. The static sound was present all the time if used with the back seat AUX-IN and I am hoping maybe it will not be present with the AUX cable that connects directly at the back of the stereo.
Thanks.
