RE: 3-cylinder
yes i do have a 93 gsx. . so i pulled the head off today and it is indeed an exhaust valve. a piece cracked off and i cant find it. could it affect the turbo?? or would it just go right out the exhaust and be gone? what could cause the valve to crack? to much pressure or was it bad in the first place? if you guys want to see a pic of it let me know.

RE: 3-cylinder
There are plenty of things that could cause the valve to crack and chip. The timeing may have been off a tooth, weaknesses in the metal, something getting into the cylinder and hitting that valve before exiting. Who knows. Before you go putting everything back together make sure to get the head warp, crack, and compression tested, as well as getting the block checked for warping on the head gaskete surface. Sounds like you MIGHT have lucked out but check the turbo and exhaust piping thoroughly for that valve piece. If it DID exit through the turbo it could be problems as it MAY have damaged fins. if it made it through it could also cause damage to the cat. Go through things with a fine tooth comb.

it wouldnt have have done anything to the cat because i dont have one. and i still pass emissions,. i hope its not the turbo because ive only had it for about three days before this happened. we checked the timing and it looked good, the notches lined up right.
