I asked my uncle and he said he didn't want to give advice without actually seeing the car and the problem. Otherwise he could give you some wrong information. Sorry man.

All right have the crank and cam position sensors as well as the housings for both checked. It MAY be a cracked housing for one of those that's causing the problems.

.....That's weird. I've never heard about that before.
I'm thinking a govener problem? Or maybe some computer problem. Car may be thinking it's not allowed to go over 2rpm? ::shrugs::
That's really confusing problem
Good Luck man

When reading your post, the first thing that came to mind was that maybe an air hose was disconnected somewhere. Reason being, when I disconnected an air hose on my car a couple of weeks back, I woul dhave the same problem. I'd pull off the line, and the car would let me rev up to about 2K RPM's, and then it would bring itself back down. I'd push it to the line, shift, and try to get higher in the next gear, but it did the same thing. Just a though...Check your hoses. Look for leaks, or disconnected hoses :/

Seems to me that I get that answer from a lot of people so I will check. I was also told that I might have fried the computer when my alternator went out and I got jumped. Anybody heard of that? I mean it sounds logical that the computer isn't working for whatever reason but that seems odd that that might do it[sm=dontgetit.gif] Would it harm the computer just a little to where it would just confuse the part that controls the fuel or air? I guess it is just a little overwhelming since so many have looked it over or heard the problem but nobody has ever actually heard of it before. We'll see I guess.

Thanx,
Josh

When was the last time you replaced the fuel filter? Try that first its cheap. I have also heard of problems with the ECU for the 1G cars. There is a rev/speed limiter in the ECU that has a tendency to have leaky capacitors. These caps leak onto other parts of the ECU causing all sorts of problems. This would not set off the CEL. The CEL only turns on when certain sensors are bad.

I had the same problem with my 1.8. Take the ECU out and open it, There will problably be a tiny burn spot on it. I had to jump my car off a couple of times in a row and it did the same thing. Best bet find a REBUILT computer, capacitors and all only last about 7 years, so get a recent rebuild.
