Default need help (not my car this time)

ok my brothers car is building extremely excessive preasure in the radiator and it built up really fast (im talking within about a city block) the pressure was enough to blow the cap out of his hand and coat the entire front of the car in coolant where thinking its a blown head gasket
would that cause the temp gauge to spike over the top mark and cause that amount of pressure build up in that short amount of time
as usual any help is appreciated

most definetly a head gasket. Do you have any smoke comming from the exhuast? Best way to check for a bad head gasket is to do a compression test. If you come back with two consecutive bad cylinders, or at least just one bad cylinder, then i would suspect head gasket. Another possible thing would be a blockage somewhere in the lines. You could try doing a coolant flush
