i had no compression so i took my head back off completely this time, and well my valves have been hittin my pistons... thats good reason for no compression right... well how likely is it that my valves are bent.... there are maybe two of them that arent seating completly but i think thats because of carbon build up.... i wont know for sure until i can get them out... i dont have a dang clamp yet.... would they be hitting the pistons because of timing... i have a chiltons manual and i go by the book everytime i try to time this thing... its been 5 different times now that ive tried getting this thing to run so would one of you guys tell me how to time a 1990 gsx

 

if the valves hit the pistons then they are bent. They would need to be bent to give you no compression.

 

well if they are hitting then its definetly you timing it wrong. And yes you will have to have the valves replaced now. Dont take this the wrong way but it sounds to me like this is something you shouldnt be attempting to do if it is taking you this many times to fix the error but cheeck out www.vfaq.com

 

Did you turn the engine by hand after you timed it?I always do that just to be 100% sure. But yeah if the valves are bent you'll have no compression.

 

this time put the block in time. with the head still off the engine put the head in time and install but don't turn and thing with out the timing belt on. and you will be fine don'r put head on and then time it or you'll have the same problem again and take the head to a machiene shop to have valves replace you might have cracked a guide.

 

theres a pretty big gash in between two valves on the exhaust side so im thinking about just buying a refurbished or aftermarket head i have alot planned with this car in the long run so i think im going to start now by doing that.... i dont know much about eclipses my expertice is in hondas... i just recently built a 507 fwhp civic si with a friend of mine... i recently sold that but yeah.... i think id be better off buying a new head

 

Yeah your better off getting a head, how do the pistons look?

 

i have a good head but you need valves for it everything is stock on it. i was keep in as a back up head but have a comodated three now an i'll let you get one if you like it is a bare turbo head.

 

dude i definatly want that head how much will you sell it for. does it have cams.... or anything

 

everything but the vavles been reworked by machine shop it's one of my spare heads.
