Is my turbo dying out? after like 3500, which the turbo gets about almost half way on my stock boost meter, and then when i release it.. i can hear the whistling noise.. is it cause my turbo is dying out? oftens, i mistake it for a cop's siren or something..

 

Sorry your turbo is toast.[:'(] Mine did sound just like that, a few people thought I was sporting a massive super charger....it was quite funny. Hey look on the bright side now you have to upgrade.

 

hmm.i just took it out for a test drive a moment ago.. it seems fine again.. that's weird.... when i reach 3000rpm... the boost got really high up to 3/4 of the meter gauge.. is tis a glich? lol..

 

I really don't know.....pull your intake off and check the shaft play. There is one instance I can recall where my RX7 did something similar. Before I went non-sequential I was having problems with the second turbo coming on. When it wouldn't come on and I would let off the gas in the higher RPM's it would make that sound. Really freaked me out...though my turbos where toast. So maybe it was a glitch, also check to see how much oil you have in you intake/intercooler piping.

 

Yeah check for shaft play and whatnot but if it makes the "Death Whine" again I'd say time for a new turbo

 

On that note, I'm curious...What's a good company to buy a turbo from, that is easiest to install, and still has great quality? Just curious,and I didn't feel the need to start a brand new thread for this, since we're already on the subject here. Thanks.

Sounds like your turbo needs a rebuild. If the noise is off and on, the bearings are beginning to go bad, had the same thing happen to me. Also, I wouldn't buy anything from slowboyracing, they have TERRIBLE customer service. The people are plenty nice on the phone, but when they get your money it's over. I've done more than 2200 in business with them and every order something is messed up, left out, on backorder (when they say it's in stock), they send the wrong part, or don't send at all. They will never see another penny of mine. Hell I even ordered one of their "1G Race FMIC" kits and when it arrived it looked like the core was kicked around their shop floor, it was TERRIBLE! They made ME pay the shipping to send it back to them in order for them to take care of it (another 30 bucks for their screwup). I know a few guys that bought a cheap 16G, or something small etc and had a decent experience from them (they will save you a few bucks and schlep you some parts no problem) but just hope nothing is messed up with your order.[:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]
