Default 4G63 starter replacement

OK, I diligently checked out the 1000Qs, searched the forums and here I am. I found some references which imply 'Sorry 'bout that' in regards to getting the starter out. Another post mentioned that they took the battery shelf out and had no problem. I can see the starter snugly tucked in behind my engine but it is after 9PM now and not too light out there...is there a way to get it out without a(dropping the tranny or, b) raising the engine. My arms don't seem to bend the correct way and the sausages I have for fingers weren't made for dainty manipulation.

My Chilton book succinctly solves the problem by advising me to remove the battery connection and remove the two bolts holding the starter on. Great!!@#@(. Any words of wisdom, condolence, or ridicule?

Oh, 97 GST BTW.

Thanks

I did this a few months ago. I removed the battery tray and the brackets then unbolted it (two bolts) and then I just had to work it round for a little bit. It can come out tho.
