Default 96 rs clutch Q

Ive got a 96 rs with the 420A motor. Im replacing the clutch in it, and i thought id go with an aftermarket setup to add longevity to the clutch life. Everything went smoothly with the uninstallation until i pulled the clutch/pressure plate assembly out and found that the pressure plate is rivetted to wut the manual calls the "Driven Plate" which bolts into the flywheel. My ACT street disc and pressure plate wont bolt straight up in there cause i have to use that drive plate. Im lookin for anyone who knows how to get around this problem whether it be drilling the rivettes out and bolting the pressure plate back onto the drive plate, or buying a preassembled system that will directly replace the stock unit. Im really wanting to stick with the aftermarket route however. Any advice or info will be helpful. Thanks.

Default RE: 96 rs clutch Q

My goodness, that certainly is a weird situation. But i do have the answer for you. Or actually Sport Compact Car Magazine has the answer for you. I have an issue that shows the installation of the clutch and pressure plate on a 96 neon(same engine/tranny). They commented on the clutch/pressure plate combo and showed a way around it. Either tommorow or tonight i will post their solution to the problem. Hope you're still here.
