YES! definatly don't forget to do that!!! what we did was just pushthe tensioner pully by hand until it was tight and then when you put the actual timing belt tensioner on there it will tighten it all the way

 

Nice! But what do you mean, turn the engine over? As in turn it on a couple times, then check the timing belt? And do it 5 times?

 

i mean pick it up and hold it upsidedown (turn it over) and shake it untill all its money falls out of its pockets.....
. once you get the belt on turn the crank with a 1/2" ratchet 2 full turns untill your timing marks all line up again, if they dont then its not right. Now repeat the process 4 more times to make damn sure you have your timing right. Oh and BTW the oil pump sprocket wont line up next time around, i think it takes 5 or 6 360* turns of the crank to get it sit on the marks again.the ones you need to be concerned with are the cams.

 

So, turn the crankshaft sprocket twice til they line up... if they do, do it 4 times til they line up. So in other words, thats 10 turns. But the tenth wont line up the oil sprocket, maybe not even the crankshaft sprocket. My other question is, do they all have to be lined up when i finally get to turn on the car?

 

no but you need to turn it overafter realeasing the tensioner and bring it back to TDC to be sure its 100% in time
evrything will line up except the oil pump sprocket , it still has to be timed right but it goes every so many turns before it shows up right on the marks again, my suggestion is to keep turning the crank untill the crank mark is on , and the oil pump mark, then check the cams, if theyre all on the marks then your good to go,then you can release the tensioner and put it together - you must have enough tension on the tensioner pulley adjustment
you dont have to have it sitting at TDC to start it initially, but you just need to turn it by hand a few times ato make sure thats where it is.keeping the front side of the belt as tight as possible and leaving all the slack on the back side is how u gotta put the belt on, it can be a pain in the *** but youll get it eventually
the crank and cams are the most important, the crank turns 360 degrees to the cams turning 180 degrees (2:1) they will always line up right if the timing is correct
the oil pump turns a bit faster than the crank so it throws it off untill you get 5 turns or more then its back to where it started.

So why do i leave the slack on the back side of the timing belt, if the tensioner pulley is on the front side and the auto tensioner? Also anyone have any suggestions on putting on the timing belt? This is so HARD!
