Exclamation Alternator or battery?!?!!?

Hey after a long winter my car doesn't seem to want to turn over. I've boosted it several times and let it run for a bit but still she does not start the next day. So im assuming its either the battery or alternator. The battery seems farely new and i had just changed the battery connectors.

Just wondering if it is the alternator what brand should i go with. It's a 97' Eclipse sypder 2.0

Thanks

Mike

Replace the battery and then check to see if the car is charging w/ a volt meter.

so after you jump the car it will run for a while? Just charge the battery, start the car and let it run for a bit (long enough that the battery should be fully charged) then take a voltmeter and check the voltage. If its below 12volts then its probably the alternator. But you can get both of them tested at autozone for free.

Hey Engineer

Yea i let it sit and charge for about 15-25 minutes or so then took it for a spin. The battery looks new but I am unsure about it. I'm pretty sure its the alternator but I could be wrong. If it is the alternator which is the best type?

Thanks man

Mike

you dont really need anything special. You can get one from any parts store. But if it was the alternator like i said you will be running low voltage at the battery after youve let it run for a while.

So i should just get a whole new battery anyways along with the alternator.

i'm going to be running a new sound system in it as well so a new battery would be probably best too.

thanks man
