Default Battery/Alternator problem?

Hello guys!

My Montero has intermitently for the last 2 days turned on and off the Battery and "A/T" idiot lights (BTW, what is the "A/T" light? Alternator or Auto Tranny? My wife lost the manual, so I reaaly can't be for sure).

Is this issue an alternator or battery issue? I'm guessing it is. I already left it a the mechanics' place, so I'll advise.

Best regards,

Jorge

AT is the automatic transmission. In my 1990 it lights up when the tranny overheats. May also light up if the sensor is shorted out.

Knowing what year and model vehicle might help us give you more insight into what might be wrong with your mitsu.

Thanks guys!

It was the alternator... and sorry, it's a 1998 Montero.

Thanks again!

Glad you found the problem. Be aware that the A/T light is still for your Auto Tranny. It may have been caused by your battery though.

HTH.
