better in the long run?
Durability and reliability wise they are both wonderful if you take good care of them.
But yeah, the main difference between the two is mods.
3000GT, whether base, SL, or VR-4 are not common and can be very costly.
Eclipse, whether GS-T or GSX, are somewhat more common and not as expensive.
Example: there are many different kinda of aftermarket tail lights you can put in Eclipses, but I have never once found a set to put in my 3000GT except one set direction from a JDM model over in Japan.
Just things like that.

depends on what you mean by better? if better means a quick, sporty, but more of a luxury car then its the 3000gt (assuming u meanthe vr-4)
if you mean which has more potential to be fast then its the gsx.
both have ups and downs. the 3000gt is a fat boat, its very expensive to mod, awd plays hell on the tranny when you start making more power, but its a very fun car to drive and 3l 6cyl twin turbo means lots of low end power
gsx is cheaper, cheaper to make fast, can go faster, but has a cheaper feel to it when you drive it.
it really depends on what you look for in a car.

There are way to many pros and cons to the cars to say which one would be better in the long run....
GSX Pros
Cheap to buy
Cheap parts
Easy to work on
Less parts to break
MASSIVE AFTERMARKET
3S Pros
Increasing value
MANY creature features
Very comfortable
Head turning factor
Torque to make up for the lag
GSX Cons
Decreasing value
Decent looks
Even your second
cousin friend has one
3S Cons
MANY! more parts to break
Double the money for modifications
A definite chore to work on
Not many mechanics will work on it
Finding a Good one(94+, low miles) very hard
When is comes to it they are both very great vehicles, both can be extremely and equally fast. I would say in the LONG RUN a vr4 is kept in great shape would be your best bet. If your looking for that weekend worrier then the GSX is for you. So my question to you BrunoBoy650 is, what are you planning to do in the LONG RUN
