I'm new to this forum but I did do my homework; I searched for my problem before posting my question here but didn't come up with my answer.

Does anyone know a trick or how to reattach my center rear brake light to my back windshield in my '99 eclipse gs? I bought it already like this (only owned the car for 1 1/2 months) and the rattling is driving me absolutely crazy. It obviously doesn't rattle when i'm on a nice, smooth open highway but where I live in my little dumb, hick of a town the roads aren't in the best shape and the brake light smacks all over my rear windshield.

Any ideas besides ripping it out?

yea take down the 2 screws that holds up the lower hatch cover on the inside, careful cuz the actual piece is held on by several clips to the hatch. pull that down, and i think theres 3 or 4 -10mm bolts holding the light up, tighten those up and you should be fine from there

 

I did all that yesterday and the bolts were secure. I found that the piece of metal that the light itself is actually attached to was bent down a little so I bent it back up and that seemed to work...for a couple hours. Now it's starting to sag. I'm probably going to rip it out. Don't need it anyway. Thanks for the help, though.

 

I had the same problam with the light in my gst. I just ripped the thing out because like you it was driving me nuts.

 

i did the same thing in my 99gs... i just took it out. you can get some kind of adhesive foam or something and put it between the light and the window. but other than just putting something between there... not much you can do. think of it this way, taking it out will be a weight reduction mod HAHA
