just bought a 98 GS-T spyder with a possiblyjunk motor. i am needing to find if there is and what is thedifference between 4G63T and 4G63. also will a 1st gen. bolt in directly? i don t want to purchase the wrong motor. THANKS

 

The T is turbo.. and internally the engines are different.

A 1st gen (AKA 6 bolt) will bolt in with minor adjustments (search for 6 bolt swap and you will find the list needed)

 

well all the "T" stands for is "Turbo". And there is a list of mods on here somewhere for the 1g swap... lemme see if i can find it

like they said T for turbo motor, the non turbos have higher compression pistons of course, just be sure to get a turbo motor unless your gonna rebuild it, then you can get pistons to go with what your doing.

6 bolt swap is easy for the most part, go for it.

also not all 1g engines are 6 bolt. the 89-92.5 are 6 bolt and from 92.5-94 are 7 bolt. 6 bolts are better b/c the 7 bolt hasa posible problem called Crankwalk (please do not ask what it is. you can find this easy enough in a search).
