Check engine light on codes

RE: Check engine light on codes
what exactly is the code # that you are getting. I would say start with trying to clean out the egr valve. Sometimes they get stuck and will throw a code. Also it could have to do with just a bad vaccuum line

i dont remeber the code, but it did sat egr valve,i would have to do the test again to let you know exactly.but what can happen if that egr valve is messed up,and the vacuum lines should i just re do them all?anyone know where i can find some good vacuum lines?

RE: Check engine light on codes
I honestly don't know. Hada couple customers go for about year(s) with a bad EGR did replace the part untill they failed there yearlyemissions inspection. I would take it to a shop and have them test your EGR instead of just replacing vaccum lines. If they are just regular rubber hoses then just go to your local auto parts store I think Home Depot and Lowes also sells rubber hoses.

RE: Check engine light on codes
Its pretty easy to test the egr valve,
1. buy a vacuum pump
2. hook it up to the egr and apply vacuum
3. its should sound like it wants to die out/stall then thge egr valve is good. If nothing happnes the egr is bad.
