I am having a similar problem, I was driving the car on an entrance ramp to a highway, kinda getting on it- and when i went to upshifted after getting on the highway the car would not go into gear. Previous to this the trans was always hard to get into gear but seemed to be consistent. I was sitting is more traffic than usual prior to this happening. After I took the next exit and shut the car off. I put the car in gear and then started it and drove it home but it hardly go into gear when I had to shift(some gears would not mesh at all) . I could feel the clutch somewhat engaged all the time. I was told that the 2g GST trans is whimpy and that is why they have problems- the TSI is supposed to be better? I had a similar sitz when I bought this car- guy said he had the clutch done 6 mo ago but it always shifted hard. I am not sure what kind of clutch he supposedly put in it. The only mods are SS pipe from engine back/no cat and a aftermarket blowoff valve. Never had a problem with it slipping- have done a few burnouts and it hooks up well. Problems I know are evident are engine mounts are worn badly and shifter is kinda sloppy. After this incident - when I get the car in gear and engage the clutch there is a rattling noise from clutch area. Where should I start so I don't throw unnecessary parts at the problem? Thanks.

no its just a regular thread, my cruise switch bolt was snug too, just keep torquing in the right way....i forgot which way but just look at it and you'll figure it out....but i put the switch back all the way flush with the bracket and that fixed my problem.....

hold on wait, i didnt read the whole thing...so does your engagement point on your pedal move on your pedal, like its going up the pedal to make it stiffer and eventually seem like the clutch is engauged and cant go into gear? or is it just not letting go into gear and the pedal movement is fine?

Ok, I took the easy way out to get some solid advice-lol. I called a guy that had his car posted on modifiedcartrader.com - figuring he would know just about anything I would need to know. I was right- real nice guy and had a wealth of information! Seems most guys that Mod have no problem sharing advice and insight. When I mentioned that the throwout bearing fork was not lined up in the center of the bell housing he immediately told me it had to come apart . I thought that the fork was bent from a previous accident or something along that line. Here is what I found after I tore it down- the morron who worked on it prior put the throwout bearing in 90degrees off- the retainer was bent causing the fork to be off center. I can't believe it even worked for as long as it did- which btw had to be the reason for the tranny gears not meshing properly. I almost left the clutch alone but figured I was already this far- might as well take a look at the condition of the surfaces - good thing I did! When I popped the pressure plate off one of the clutch plate springs fell on the floor. A spring cage broke releasing a spring that got caught behind the pressure plate actuating fingers- hence grinding,rattling and erratic engagement. This is the first eclipse tranny I have pulled- kinda sucky with a few engineering afterthoughts I had to deal with. Looks like I will only be out about $200 on this one.
