no, in the 1g's the bump was necessary the body feature just carried over to the 2g's, it is not needed on them it's just a representation mark of the Eclipse's. if you are going to put a scoop in the rear of the hood, what's the point? that's the coolest part of the engine bay? it seems by the way you talk that you are just lookin for something to show off, in which case i'd just get a cf vent hood:

The G-Speed hood is actuall what I want for the hood when i get the money, but in the mean time i made a computer rendering of what it would look like if I cut my hood in that style. Check it out.

ur call... without rounding out those cuts or anything i think it will look pieced together... i personally don't think it would look good but hey, i could be wrong, i have been wrong before. if you are honestly looking to just cool down your engine bay just use the washers! it looks good and it's relatively free.
