Default Deal or No Deal???

I am interested in purchasing a 99 eclipse rs. It has 89K on it and the engine has a serious knocking sound when you start it up. As you rev the engine the sound gets louder and faster. I went to this dealer and this car was tucked away in the back so they told me they would sale it to me for $2000 out the door. I have always wanted to rebuild an eclipes but i am not sure if its a good idea to purchase this car or not. any suggestions?
