Default is this an electrical problem?

ok on my 96 gsx, i can roll the sunroof back, but when i push the switch to close it, itll go about 3/4 of the way and then stop and roll back open again. its weird, but it only does it sometimes, and when it does it and i get it to close, it makes a *pop* noise when it shuts. im so confused, what do you think it is? and if i have to replace the sunroof how much do you think it is?

I may be the switch or the motor.
I had a cars driver window do that to me, and it ended up being the window motor.

sounds like it is coming out of the track. There is a safety in it to make it return to open if it binds up ie. a childs head or hand in the way. The pop you hear is it going back into the track. Check to see if the track is bent or broken.

I had the EXACT same problem with my sunroof on my talon and the problem ended up being that a plastic peice on one side broke. I thinkit was just a connector in there or something but i think thats what was causing mine to do it every now and then. And i would have to sit there and keep hitting open till it didnt get cuaght. I would just check both sides of the sunroof just to see if anything is different from one side to the other.
