It will start and rev to like 1 rpm...then dies. However if i give it gas awhile and keep reving it up it seems to be ok. However that doesn't work all the time. I' just got back from taking it to the mitsu dealer here, and he didn't kno wut it was. I'm thinking oxygen sensor but not sure.

very very stupid idea but my friend has a 95 TSI talon and he had a very similar problem..and for him it was only a loose\bad connection on the battery terminal..He was able to stay running by giving gas but would bogg on die if he tried to drive.
Also my 2000 GS I had did a very similar thing. The flange the the Throttle body bolts to was starting to crack and the car had a bad idle (flux. from 700RPMs 900Rpms) and would die out not long after unless I held the intake up with my hand because it would mostly seal the crack

a Mitsu dealer should find it if its a leak. I found it the 1st time it happened, and It happened again i knew what it was and I just brought it to mitsu to have fixed cause I was to lazy to pull the intake manifold and swap it again.
do you have a turbo model or NA? and does it have an after market intake that has been on there a long time?
Mine was caused by a bad aftermarket intake, or at least the rubber 90 degree elbow off the throttle body was worped from heat over time and it was pulling down on the flange which cause it to crack and eventually fall off.
