im just as clueless as you are on this. Ive never had to deal with the wiring on these. If i still had one to look at i could tell ya.

I think it's time for a test light and a battery. I tried finding the wiring info through my E-manual but there's a lot of info in them and it's hard to find that kinda thing.
Since the wires fell and burned the insulation, the wires probably shorted out and burn the fan motor or something worse down the line.
Use a 12v battery to see if the fan is still operable and use the test light to see if you get 12v on the original wires that were connected. A multimeter would be better though, so that you can check the ground or check for the ground wire.

it works when i plug it to the battery.....i found the postive with a test light.....but need to know what wire is negtive

No need to give yourself a headache over finding the ground, seriously. Make your own ground or use a multimeter to find the ground wire.
