I recently had my fuel filter replaced on a 95 eclipse gs. Since then the car starts rough and runs for about 3 minutes, after which the engine rpms bounce up and down till it sputters out and won't run at idle. There is a modified air intake on the car, and I was wondering if with the clean fuel filter should the idle speed be adjusted up to compensate.

 

Sounds like it was a bad install of some sort... you smell any leaks?

 

no I dont smell any leaks.

 

It only runs like hell once its warmed up?

yes, once it warms up it starts to run poorly.

 

Possibly a gasket or something, or so it seems... maybe once the engine warms up and the gaskets get a little gooier and stretchier a breach is occuring. Sounds like some kind of unmetered air reaching the motor. Some kind of vacuum test is in order Id say.

 

Could be your idle control valve..

 

If it was the diel air control valve then it wouldnt stall out.
